79 with a 460, when it is like 70 degrees or so outside the truck will start and run until it gets a little heat in it, 45 seconds to a minute, and then its like you just turn the key off, and it will not restart, if it is hot outside it will crank but not start, it has the stock dist with an MSD 6, has my MSD gone out or is this something cheaper to fix that I'm missing?
First inspect and verify your grounds. Run additional ones if any question.
Verify that wires to plugs from dizzy are correctly run.
Next start it and check static timing - 8 to 10 Deg BTDC with vac dis and plugged.
Remove air cleaner and leave off for rest of tests. Plug the vac line that is removed.
Verify that your choke is operating correctly and is opening as engine heats up.
If all this shows up nothing do a float check on the carb - Is it a 4180 Holley??
At this point you will begin to learn if it is ignition or fuel.
