Hello, I have a 94 F150 that just quit while I was driving. The engine turns over fine but does not get spark at plugs or fuel pressure. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks Bill for your response, I changed the relay and checked all the fuses also. You mentioned the Diode. Is that different than the relay? If so, where is it?
Thanks
Tom

The Diode is the gray fuse looking item at the top left in the photo below.
Does the PCM Power Relay click when you turn on the key?
If so the Fuses and the Diode are OK.
Does the fuel pump relay click on for one second when you turn on the key?
If so the PCM Power relays contacts are OK also.
O.k, Changed relay. diode and fuses and still nothing. I used to hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds when everything was fine. I get a click sound from the tank when I turn the key on and no spark at the plugs. Could it be the ecm?

Ground pin #6 (LB/O wire 926) of the DLC (test connector/Diagnostic Selftest Plugs) and see if the fuel pumps run.
All the PCM does is ground pin #6 for 1 second when you turn on the key and then again while cranking and running. Grounding pin #6 bypasses the PCM Computer.
Is the TFI the same as the PCM? If not, Where is the PCM?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
No the TFI Module is near the Test Connector and is also called the ICM.
The PCM Computers is in the drivers kick panel and is accessible from the engine compartment.
You called the PCM the ECM in an earlier post but the ECM was only used from 1979 - 1984 and was then replaced by the EEC until the computer started controlling the transmission and then it was called the PCM.
The PCM can not prevent you from getting spark so at this point I would say you have a ground problem.
The ground I would look at first is G101 near the Battery on the fender.
The PCM Computers is in the drivers kick panel and is accessible from the engine compartment.
But to remove it you would have to loosen the inter fender.
The PCM operates the fuel pumps but if is not grounded it can not do this and since you also have no spark and the PCM can not prevent this you may have a ground problem.
Either that or you have more than one problem and that would be a bad PCM and a bad ICM or pick-up coil in the distributor or their wiring and wiring plugs.
If you know anyonewith an OBD1 scanner have em pull the codes on it.....doesn't have to be running to do it.....
If you can not get spark or the fuel pumps to run a scanner is not going to help.
Only wiring diagrams and a test light is going to get you going.
Also I have found that grounding the STI and counting the flashes of the CEL (MIL) lamp works much better than a scanner unless you have an OBD II system.
CEL - Check Engine Light
MIL - Malfunction Indicator Light
STI - Self Test Input circuit
OBD - On Board Diagnostics
PCM - Powertrain Control Module
ECU - Electronic Control Unit
EEC - Electronic Engine Control
TFI - Thick Film Ignition system
ICM - Ignition Control Module
