As you can see in the picture I posted above, the gasket was leaking badly, and it looks like it was leaking down into the valley and getting in the oil...but I never could find any coolant in the oil! I checked many times, and the oil level never rose, and I never found any evidence of milky oil. However, after having the top side of the engine exposed all night long, I plan on changing my oil no more than a couple hours after I get it all back together...
Well, the I got it together today, it took me about 5-6 hours. Once I got it together, I filled it up with antifreeze, started it up, and everything seemed good. So, I drove over to the parts store, rented a coolant pressure test kit to see if everything sealed right.
AAAAHHHH, STILL LEAKING!!!
I found the leak, it's dripping down the front of the passenger side of the block...but it doesn't look like it's coming from the intake manfold...
Here's the best picture I can get...
Does this look like the freeze plug is leaking? If so, how do I replace it? I'm gonna pull the a/c compressor and mounting bracket tomorrow to get a good look...what do you guys think?
YEA freeze plug You can Carfuly Poke a screw driver in it and try to pull it out. How many miles? where theres one there might be More, looks kinda rusty. You dont see that Much in AZ. I think there is some DYE you can add then with a speical light you can detect all, Not sure about the last part thou.
that looks like the center port witch is a egr/heat riser thingy.it isnt a water port.i doubt even if a try to scrape it clean youll get all of it.when i got an intake of i usualy fill that hole with bondo to keep the heat away from the carb
Put a punch on the solid part of the plug, usually the upper part, hammer it till it turns sideways in the hole, then pull it out with pliers.
To install, find a socket that fits into the new plug, cover the plug good with Permatex copper, put an extension in the socket and hammer it back in. jd
