hi

hi im a new user. My name is CJ i have a 95 f-150.I have had it for about a year now and minus a alternator its been a pretty dependable engine. its only 2 wheel drive and it is a beater but i have come to love her.So im thinking about restoring it and customizing it to my likes, little things like a brushguard and so forth. When i got her the driver door was smashed in and the hood was bent up pretty good along with the wiper cowl. Since then ive goten a new driver door which will need new hinges(aparently the old ones were bent) a new hood and a wiper cowl. the driver side of the bed had a few high rot spots so i was looking for a new bed but then i pulled the liner out and the inside was cherry. So instead i cut squares out around the rot and welded sheet metal in behind the holes and im currently bondoing over it. The area around the tires on both sides of the bed are prety flimsy also, somebody did a pretty bad job with bondo in these areas, i figure ill grind the stuff out and try to redo the bondo cleaner and neater and maybe get fender flares to dress it up a bit. I also have to get a tailgate, the one that is there is shot. Down the line if I can beautify her I wouldnt mind rebuilding a 302 and putting it in my baby and maybe 4-6 inch suspension lift for the beffy look, but im still learning and that stuff is probly way to complicated for now ill just take it day by day. And i know people say why dont you just junk her and get a better truck on with 4X4 but like i said ive come to love her and i would like peopl to see what im capable of doing with her. Please if you have any suggestions to any of this whether to beefing her up or easy body work let me know. I would very much appreciate it, thank you. CJ

Welcome to FTE

Give all the details about her...motor, tranny, rear gears, 2X4/4X4, it all helps to figure out your issues.

Try the "body work" forum for specific answers to your bondo and repair questions.......some of those guru's only hang out in there.

If the bed is REAL bad......you might consider the boneyard and a different one. I don't know how hard they are to find in your area but you can find out pretty easy.
New Replacement sheet metal is available from many of our sponsors, "ie" fenders, cab corners, hoods things like that....just depends on how you want to do it and what you want to pay.

Dress up items are also available from some sponsors and I like LMC Truck for those and replacement parts. Original Parts Depot is good too. Google them and you'll see what they offer. The 4X4 guys will jump in about the brushguard........lots of them have one.

Lots of guys here have rebuilt and done motor swaps too...you can get answers to questions easy about that. Sounds like you are planning to make her nice.......and keep yourself busy a while too......

Good Luck and ask away......you'll get lots of help
Bob

welcome to fte.

if you love the truck do what you want.

we have a park here that is in a valley and has steep roads in and out.

one winter a 4x4 ranger could not get up the road and i passed them in my 4x2 without limited slip.

i do like 4x4 but it is not needed for everyobe.
