Do you happen to have a picture of the bypass oil setup? Since it comes out where mine does I would assume it goes through a filter setup then back into the block in the black flex line? Just wondering if you happen to have a picture of the total installation? Thanks for the insight...Dave
Below are the pics I have taken. The setup is how you describe though. Pressure line out from the stock filter housing, to the Oil Guard filter, then returned back to the block. Flexible rubber hose is used for all the connections, with some plastic loom around it where it might rub hard parts like the frame.
Thanks a bunch for the pics. I had looked in your gallary and had seen them before and just wanted to make sure that the ports are the ones we were talking about. I already have the coolant filter setup like yours and will probably add the oil filter either at the next change or during the off season...sometime over the winter. Thanks again, Dave
Is that gold can I see in the picture for the oil pressure? I saw another picture and it looks like where they had labled that as a coolant drain hole?I can send you the picture I found if you would like. I may not be seeing the same thing you are...
Here is the link I was talking about courtesy of TJbeegs

The gold can is the sending unit for the oil pressure. The pictures are a little deceptive because they are taken from different angles. In my photo, the coolant drain pug is not visible - it's blocked by the OG return hose.

I see on the picture with the words on it, where the plug is labled coolant drain, where is your oil pressure transmitter in relation to where this plug is labled? I am just trying to figure out where I would tap my oil pressure gauge into if I run a bypass filter setup. I like the oil guard setup as it seems the simplest to install. Thanks agian, Dave
Always glad to help. Here are a couple of pictures for you that might help. The first one I just went out and took of my truck. The coolant plug is circled. The second one is TJ's pic that you posted, but I have circled & labeled the oil pressure test port on his.
I think these two pics should help. Look at these and then look at your truck. You should be able to identify the plugs, although the oil pressure one may be pretty crudded up.
So you tapped into the plug you circled on HIS picture? I think that would be easy enough. When I get my bypass filter setup on there, I will plug into the place where you showed me on his picture.....thanks for your help......Dave
Yes, I used the port circled in his picture. That port is great to use for bottom end oil pressure for two reasons: 1) the block there is threaded 1/8" NPT, so the sending unit for the pressure gauge won't need any adapters or special fittings to work, and 2) the square head in that plug is perfectly sized for a 1/4" rachet drive to fit right in there, with no special tools needed to get it out. It's as simple as remove the plug and screw in the sending unit.
If you need any advice or help when it comes time to install the bypass, let me know.
