Is there anyway for people like me to confirm that the ECM reflash took? When I upgrade my computer software, I can tell by looking at the version. But it seems to me that reflashing the ECM is just black box.
I'm a cynic and want independent proof.
I had the recall work done for at my 5,000 mile oil change. Tech must have been a real bone head. Didn't screw the oil filler cap on tight and it fell off and landed on the EGR cooler. What a stink it made inside the cabin. Wasn't too neat either, spilled oil on the engine.
Becuase you probably bought your '08 after the fact. This was an early recall that only affected the frst few thousand trucks. All the other trucks were relashed before they were sold and now come from the factory with the new programming.
