Lift for the EX

I'm looking for a 4" Lift for my 2000 EX 6.8L 2WD and I would like to know which is the best and least expensive product to use. I need something that is PROBLEM FREE nor will not cause excessive tire wear. Also would like to know the best place to purchase it.

Does anyone have any suggestions based upon experience?

Whenever going over something like a speed bump slowly the EX waddles, it rocks from side to side... How to elliminate that rocking motion/waddle?

Thanks!

I didnt lift mine, but got rid of most of the waddling by replacing the shocks with Bilsteins and replace the original sway bars with Hellwig. Completely changed the way the X drove and felt.

Money well spent !!!

baji26, I had to same exact problem as you. My ride was terrible, when ever i went over any bump, the truck would sway all over the place. I bought the Fabtech four inch lift and it made the the ride a whole lot smoother. It also elminated the sway when going over bumps.

I was reading on the net and I read that the Rancho is the best for a smooth on-road ride.

How much did you pay for your Fabtech.... Is 4" really high? I'm looking for to be higher that those 4x4s but not too high.

Also I've been seeing plenty for 4x4s but not much for 4x2s. Thanks!

Myself and i eat hybrids were both in the same boat (almost 2wd lift buddies ). The two main manufacturers for 2wd lifts are Explorer Procomp and Fabtech. I've got a Procomp lift and hybrid's got a Fabtech lift, so you can get an opinion on both sides of the perspective. While my lift isn't on yet, I'm confident that it'll fix my suspension issues. In fact, i eat hybrids was one of the people I talked to before I bought my lift. You can almost say he's the one who inspired, if not convinced me. You'll spend some money on the lift and new bigger tires, but it's a worthwhile investment that you'll never regret. Check around online, it's easy and common to find a Fabtech or Procomp lift for the V10. It's just a matter of whos going to give you the better deal. If you do look into a Procomp kit, be sure and get the MX6 shocks; buddy of mine who installs lifts for a living says they're worth every penny. Happy hunting.

The standard height for a 2wd Excursion is exactly 77.2 inches; 4wd being 80.2 inches. With a 4 inch lift that puts you at an estimated 81.2 inches, slightly higher than a stock 4wd X. You won't find very many kits geared towards 2wd vehicles as theres a bigger market for 4wd vehicles. But as I mentioned, Procomp and Fabtech are the only two manufacturers I know of offer 2wd kits.

Yes I'll be the fourth. I'm looking at Fabtech and doing it September... Where would I get the best price on the 4" Fabtech suspension lift?

I spoke to this shop and they said $1600 but I will contact this onther one and see what they say.

Yeah that sounds good. Where did you purchase it from?
What shop did you use for installation?
Did you found any negatives in lifting it?

Thanks.

I found no negatives in lifting it. I only found positive things. I bought the lift from a local 4x4 shop. Its called cleveland of road, in cleveland ohio. My buddies dad is a chevy mechanic and he put it on for me really cheap. The place were i bought it from qouted me $600 to put it on, but that was because they didnt have a lift.

$600 I wish I could come up there and buy that... I can't find anything online for less that $1200.

Is there a Fabtech dealer locator that I can search for a local dealer? I can't seem to find any. I'm in Dallas Georgia 30157.

Thanks!
