Have an 06 F-250 which only tows a trailer about once a month. I know the 05 and up trucks are seeing better brake life than the 99-04 trucks. I was just wondering how many miles people were getting out of a set of brakes with the same circumstances i have. Any imput would be appreciated.
I'm just under 36,000 on my 05 and the dealer did a free inspection about a month ago. They told me with the amount of pad I have left I should get between 50-60 ez out of my pads. I tow a 31' TT 1-2 times a month in the spring-summer.
my old '99 pulled several thousand lbs 5 days a week and went 100,000 miles before it's first brake job. my '05 does the same work, has 34,000 miles and the brakes still look excellent. both are standard transmission.
At 85k I had ~50% of pad life left and I am not one to go easy on the brakes or the gas. My last vehicle got new brakes every 20k and new rotors every 40k so this is awesome life.
Depends on the dealer. I would never take my truck to a dealer unless it was for a warrenty repair. They generally are overpriced and I've had nothing but problems with the dealerships with the exception of the place I bought my 250 from in central PA. They took care of me real well when my 150 lost it's engine under warrenty at 50k, and then I got a great deal on my 250. Every other dealership that I have had a vehicle in has told me lies, enough so that I almost bought a 3/4 ton Ram until I saw the huge price difference plus many other factors. I love my 250 but not the Ford Dealers.
