?'s about converting 8 lug to 5 lug
I have a 57 f-250 with 8 lug wheels, and am trying to find the reverse chrome wheels and babie moon caps. I cannot find any wheels with 8 lugs. The questions is:
Does anyone know if these are being made?
What is the easiest way to convert to 5 lugs?
Possibly changing the front rotor over to 5 lug?
Will I have to change the rear axles over?
Are there any adapters that can be used?
Thank You.
Converting to 5 lug wheels will be very expensive. All the brakes would have to be changed, and the rear axle. Trying to figure out what fits what, will be a major PITA. The wheels you now have are the same bolt pattern that all the F250's used into the 1990's = 8 lug; 6.50 bolt pattern. There were Ford styled steel and aluminum wheels made these trucks, there were all sorts of aftermarket wheels also offered.
Unless someone added disc brakes, you have brake drums, not rotors.

is there a difference in the spindles between the 1/2 tons and the 3/4 tons for the 57-60 trucks? If the spindles are the same then it would be easy enough to find some 1/2 ton hubs to get the 5 holes spacing in the front.
For the rear of the truck you would have to swap out the rear axle. Any 1/2 ton truck differential up through the 1972 model year should be a direct bolt in.
Good luck
