Happy Fathers day all you pops! The F3 is running (pulled it out ofthe garage for the first time Sat- will post video) but a wheel problem has me lost. I have a set of 4 AMERICAN RACING ATLAS 17x8 8 lug wheels I am going to sell. They fit the stock hubs well but not the Jag front IFS I put in. (the spacer to convert to 8 lug makes it rub on the fender) The budget is shot is the big problem. I can get F250 16x8 8 lug original for the rear and 16 x 8 5 lug 4.75 (dreaded che*y wheels) for the front from the local u-pull it for $30 each then of course I will need tires. What is going to happen by switching to 16 from the current 17's that originally came on the F3? Can't find 17x8 5 lugs 4.75 there. Does anyone know of a stock wheel 17x8 5 lug that is 4.75 pattern but look like a Ford steel wheel not a Jag wheel? Thanks
Seems to me the simpler solution would be to swap out the rear end with a 4.75 bolt pattern GM unit, (camaro, etc) and ditch the antique low geared diff with the giant 12" drums that nothing fits over. No sense beating your head against the wall forever over something as simple as wheels, and it's not like you're going for concours resto awards.
Hi Wayne-Thanks --The rear end is from an F250 with 3:52 gears and disk brakes. I went with that as originally I was keeping the 8 bolt front end so matched the rear end to that. The budget just won't take another rear end plus the wheels/tires. I figure selling the Amer Racing Atlas 17's with the tires will offset the new wheels/tires. The 2 spares would be the only problem but it is going to be a weekend local ride only. So may not even worry about a spare.
The main questions is would 16's look OK or not and would they affect anything else??
