Universal joints are a great thing to have when changing the spark plugs on the 2.3L/2.5L. Use a U-joint or two, along with extensions, to access all the plugs.
It's also possible to remove the intake manifold in order to access the plugs, but it's perfectly possible to do the plug change without doing so.
I had universe extender but could not see the plugs because of the hood, I cut a extender and blazed the two pieces to a 4 foot section of conduit, wish that I still had it so that I could stand back and remove the plugs
Do you need to see them to get the socket on them? I've heard of lots of four banger guys removing the intake manifold to get to some of the plugs, but not the hood.
NO, if I can reach the bolt or plugs with my hand I can guide a socket onto it, I consider removing the intake but the intake got more bolts to torque and a gasket that could get damage so I took the hood off instead
Well I guess whatever works for you. That's a new one to me though, I've NEVER heard of anyone pulling the hood to change plugs on a Ranger of any engine variety.
