Boost question

I am only showing 2lbs of turbo boost at 65 on the highway with the cruise on. Is that normal or low. I thought I read somewhere on here you should get 6-7 lbs of boost at highway speed. Thanks Tom

That does sound a bit low. I see you have the over boost eliminator, after I had put mine in I didn't get the connections tight enough and it was not reading properly. So if evewrything else is tight you may want to check it out.

Tom, How many miles on the truck. I too am going through a low boost prob right now and I have narrowed mine down to the waste gate actuator. My actuator rod is tight, but I think the spring inside the actuator housing has become weak and is letting my exhaust push open my WG a little thus creating a lower overall boost. I am seeing 3-5 psi at 70mph and can only acheive 18-20 at WOT thru the gears. And if I unplug the red line to the actuator it makes no difference in the above WOT number.

At 65 to 70 mph I usually see between 6 and 8lbs.

I am seeing only 4-6 lbs at 60-65mph. At WOT I have only seen 16lbs although I haven't really got on it on the highway. I will today and see what happens.

when I replaced my torbo one of the things I noticed was that the actuator spring was considerably weaker than the new one, this was at 118k mi
I took up a little more on the new one,not sure if it will help

Okay, maybe 4 lbs at 65mph and I saw 17 lbs at WOT up 80 mph. Is that low? Truck is stock except for the 6637 and has 67,400 on it.

I don't think that's low for stock. I wish I could go out and test it, but my wife won't quit driving it!!!

This is getting bad. She's got a relatively new (2006) Mitsubishi Durocross, too. Anyone want to trade a low mileage (10k) Durocross for something with a 7.3??

IMO the way the gauge is connected and the manufacturer of the gauge will cause some variance in readings. At maintenance throttle at 70MPH I see about 4 or 5#'s boost while in DP-Tuner setting 80economy, but as soon as the truck starts climbing a grade I see as much as 14#'s. Now if I'm passing some Duramax or Cummins I have seen 26#'s.
