At highway speeds (60+ mph) if I hit a bump/pothole with only one of the front wheels I get severe wheel hop. Which takes a good 2-3 seconds to smooth back out. Really scary in a high speed corner.
Rotated the tires and it still does it.
Took it into the shop and all front end parts are tight and good, they suggested it might be the air shocks.
Would bad air shocks cause this type of handling problem?
I'm thinking to order new front ones from American Air Susp. when they get back in stock in mid-july.
You don't say mileage---but being an 01 assume it's over 60K---mine is 00 and have 90K on it---just replaced the front air shocks and rears too---what a difference---I didn't have the bad wheel hop you have but cornering was beginning to be challenging especially when towing---unfortunately those front air shocks are pretty specialized---I bought the Monroe OEM---not from the dealer---shockwarehouse I think---wasn't too bad to replace---well worth it and you will be amazed at the improvement. Good luck---let us know what you do
Thanks for the info....just ordered a pair from shockwarehouse.
I am hoping these will make the difference. Milage is about 106K so they are due for replacement.
Installed new front air shocks. The death wobble seems to have been cured as well as the wallowing over bumps at highway speeds.
Install was pretty easy ,
-Shut off air suspension switch in the passenger foot area
-To disconnect the air line from the shock, push in the colored ring with a small flatblade screwdriver and then pull the hose out. I used two small screwdrivers, one on each side of the ring to push it in.
-Remove bolts and take out shock.
