Clunk!!
I have a 1993 f150 supercab 4x4 it has the E4OD tranny. Everything on this truck is mechanically sound. When i put it in to gear it goes fine but if i put it into reverse it takes about 3 to 5 seconds to change gears i expect it to shift right away. But it takes a few seconds. Know thisis the first vehical i have ever owned that is actually this new my last couple trucks where from the years 1970 - 1979. Know i assume this is'nt normal or is it? And the other thing after I bought it i changed out all the U-joints and there is no play inthem at all!! But when I stop ata stoplight or anywhere for that matter, when i start to accelerate there is a clunk and i can't tell where it is coming from. My brakes work really well but maybe they are sticking or something. This is a whole new ball game for me , like i said never owned anything this new. Please help! thanks for any info.

From my experience E4ODs take at least 2 seconds to engage from park to reverse and park to drive. That is normal (someone correct me if that's not). As for the clunk, have you checked the front end out? Radius arm bushings, etc.,.?

Check trans fluid for proper level. As for the clunk, could be a motor mount or a trans mount. Open the hood, start the truck, put it in gear and hold the brake with your left foot, slightly gas it with your right foot and look for the engine to lift and drop. Have someone else look for you too.
