Cam choice?

I searched and read a lot of posts about cams for my 400. I just want to confirm that I'm making the right choice. The comp 265deh is what I was going to get but the guy at the speed shop recommended the 262xe or 274xe. The motor is a 1971 car 400 and I will be putting on a 4V intake, 600 Holley, and headers if they will work. The motor is for my bush truck so I need a fair bit of torque without sacrificing too much top end. Should I go with the 265deh? Do I also need to get springs, retainers, etc. to run that cam? What are your opinions on the weiand intake for a 400?

Thanks in advance

Use the 265DEH. Call the cam help line for springs etc. The Weiand intake works the same as the Edelbrock but has a better carb mounting surface.

if you have the 71 heads the DEH is not as critical as if you have 1975 or later heads. the DEH cams are designed to crutch the 1975 and later heads that have a poor exhaust port, the 1974 and earlier heads don't suffer this problem.
