crankshaft question
o.k. I have a chance to buy an 84 stang with 351w that is locked up. called two shops today and one tells me the crank can be ground down and saved the other says it's junk and he will sell me one already turned. has anyone ever had a crank turned that was locked up? I would like to have this for a daily driver without sinking a grand into it. right now my truck
is my priority project.

crankshaft question
Nobody can say it's ruined until you get it out and check the main and rod journals for bad scratches and sizes. That's hard steel and .020 will clean up a lot of wear. It could be jammed for other reasons, like a blown piston. If it's free, pull it out and take it to the shop that offered to grind it and see what they say. Sounds like the other shop has a finished crank they've been sitting on for a long time.
