Started skipping and slowing down and then cut off within 5 miles. Replaced the fuel filter and the crank position sensor. It tries to start but will not.
Was suprised the CPS was only $29.00 from ford. They used to be $160.00
Thanks for your replys
Try and read any fault codes using the proper scanner.. I might be your under the valve cover wiring and/or the connector, which in time becomes loose and your loose wiring connection to your injectors and glow plugs.. If you have a digtal ohm meter, you can check the resistance before pulling the valve covers to see if that might be the problem.. I will repost the ohm readings alittle later..
Welcome to the forum...
Im with kenny. The easyest way to check your fuel pump is to take your fuel filter cap/lid off, drain it and close the valve. With the cap/lid off turn the key on and it should fill the housing in one cycle of the key.At this time it would be a good time to change the fuel filter. It may be pluged. If it does not fill the housing make shure your pump is running and if it is you may have a pluged inlet screen on the pump or the pickup tube in the tank. The pump will run every time you cycle the key on and it is located on the frame under the drivers seat.
Thanks for all your replys!!
Hopefully i will get time tomorrow to do the tests on the pump and wiring.
Will let you know what fixed it.
Does anybody know if ford is a little tight with the 100k warranty. My truck has 104k.
Have a great 4th.
Try talking to the GM before you deal with the numb skulls in the Sevice Dept. Even more so if you bought your truck at that dealership. If you did bye the truck at the dealership you are planning on going to, don't forget to tell him that. Or if you've sent him any clients and they've bought a vehicle from him. Make sure he know this too. It tends to soften them up based on loyalty. I used to work at a dealership in sales. There is nothing better than a repeat customer asking for help. They generally will work yah. I hope this is the case with you and your truck. Take Care Country..

your time has probably run out on your warranty, unless your inservice date is mid July 2002. 5 years or 100K whichever comes first.
Fuel pump will key on and cycle and fill the housing easy, its the pressure building for demand that will be the issue. Replaced one on the road and the aftermarket couldnt even keep up with the demand. You will need a guage and some plumbing from the local hardware store. Guage runs about 12 to 20 bucks at ACE. Watching the fuel in the fuel bowl is for beginners.
The fuel pump was bad. I bought an aftermarket one and hope i wont regret it.
I do industrial maintenance and have learned over the last 20 years that cheaper ain't always better, but that was the only one i could find today.
I agree with you Kenny!! People ask me all the time about batteries and say that they are reading 12V but that dont mean anything til you load it.
Thanks again everybody for your info.
Yall have a great weekend
