Shake, rattle and roll

Was reading some stuff online about vibration ahd shake of the 7.3L diesels...My 88 F250 has a good bit to shake to it when it s running regardless of speed. Is there any easy way to tell if it's missing on a cylinder? I know from having a 5 cylinder Mercedes, if it's missing you'll have more of a vibration and shake out of the vehicle....No fuel coming out the exhaust as from unburned fuel...Just wondering how reasonable could it be for the motor mount going bad to cause a shake??? Have also been told it is louder than it should be...

Crack the injector line on each injector loose one at a time. A missing cylider will show up as no change when that line is cracked open. Timing advance too far will also create some extra noise and rattle.

How is the timing set on the 7.3L ????? Is it like a normal diesel where you loosen the mounting screws on the injection pump and rotate it slightly in one direction??
