Fuel injector lines

I have the (Gasp!) dreaded gray-painted lines, and it's been said I should replace them due to leaking air into the fuel system.

Is this common with gray injector lines?

How can I tell if they're leaking air into the fuel system?

What do I replace them with?

Thanks in advance.

It's the rubber lines (between the injectors) you should worry about. Sometimes, you will see or smell fuel leaking or the engine will run rough, but the usual symptom of air getting in is after sitting for hours (overnight) the engine will start, run for a few seconds, and then die. If you're worried, or are having problems, get a "return line kit" and replace the hoses, caps and o-rings all at the same time. A good parts store should have the kit. The steel lines should be fine as long as you're careful not to damage (kink/cross thread/over torque) them when replacing the rubber lines...

the hard metal lines that run from the injector to the pump are not the lines that leak. its the rubber lines and plastic caps that go from injector to injector that leak. when they are leaking the truck will start up then shut off and take alot of cranking to get going again. you might also smell diesel fumes if they are leaking. if your not having any problems i would leave it alone.
