fuel filter change

Got a 98 ranger 2.5L...Does the filter come out easy? Do I need a tool to take it out?

it should be held in with a bracket that you take off
and then there is to plastic clips that clip on each end
of the filter you can pop them off with a screwdriver
and replace them with new one's when you get new filter.

That pretty much says it good. Its not difficult at all...though some people get quite fed up with the clips (they regularly change types as well).

Lay on your stomach from the passenger side, rather than on your back from the driver's side, so when gas spills, it doesn't get on you.

Remove the fuel pump relay in the underhood fuse box and crank the engine for ten seconds to remove all the fuel pressure before starting.

I believe all the '98s are like mine and use fuel line couplings that are different than those described in fordman's post.

Had to buy the tool to get it apart. Still was not that easy. Going together with new filter was a snap!
