My intake mod
My truck used to have an 088 ATS turbo on it but it was removed before I got it and the ATS intake setup was left in. The snailshell was clocked so the opening faced forward, a hole was drilled in the ATS airbox and a pipe stuck through it into the snailshell. The filter was removed and a ricer branded K&N cone filter was put on the intake to the airbox. Nothing was done to plug the hole in the back of the airbox that would normally connect to the intake of the turbo.
I got tired of looking at this setup and started playing on Saturday.
After a couple hours of playing I finally settled on just removing the snailshell alltogether. I drilled a hole in the top solid part of the cone filter and used the snailshell bolt and bolted the filter right to the intake manifold.
There is a lot more engine noise now but it does seem to run better. On my way home from work I have a short hill to climb. Nrmally I'd be in 2nd gear(C6) at full throttle (30MPH) and spewing black smoke. Yesterday I was still at 30MPh but not full throttle and had no black smoke.
I'll take some pictures tonight. I'll report back on any fual milage gains ina week or two.
