Rod Bearing Question

I bought some new rod bearings and notice the news ones don't have the notch for the oil squirters. They told me they have been replaced with these bearings. The little birdy tells me to notch the new bearings, Should I?

Thanks
Tim

Post Rod Bearing Question

Hi,

By "notch" I take it you mean a "hole". If your rods have an oil squirt hole you should get new inserts that already have the hole in them.

Rod Bearing Question

The auto parts store said they were replaced with the ones without the holes. My old ones have holes.

Rod Bearing Question

Oil squirt holes were discontinued to save money. They supply oil to the cylinder wall, and engines had more tendency to get piston slap after they were disontinued.
Change parts suppliers and get a set of inserts with the holes. Cheapness at the factory is no reason for cheapness now...
