If I apply the brake while the signal is on the signal stops flashing. I redid all grounds as well as made a few new ones. I replaced the flasher but still the same problem. Any ideas?
It sounds like a ground problem at the rear. If it does it only on one side then it's that side at the rear.
When people think of a "ground", they think of a wire bolted to the body or frame somewhere. This is true, but for the light grounding problem, the common ground for the light starts at the brass part of the bulb. It then goes to the tab on the outside of the socket, then through the socket on one of the three socket wires, and then to a connector into the harness, and then to ground.
The most common problem is the brass part of the bulb is not making good contact with the tab in the socket. Also sometimes there is something unexplainable wrong inside the socket, and only a new socket will fix it. I have had a few of those.
Franklin thanx for the help. I redid all the grounds. tried a new brake switch and flasher units.....even swapped out the turn signal switch. tried new sockets......after 4 hours i figured it out....i have a plastic protective tube over mt trailer wires, must have filled up with water last time at the lake.........way too funny huh? I removed it and all is well again.
