I've done the search and cannot find any answers to my question, I have a 54 that Did not come stock with turn signals I found a stock assembly. But this assemble only had 3 wires. The were material coated (6 Volt). The switch is like the one I had on my 55 but that was more than 20 yrs ago. I had to change the wires on this assembly due to 2 of 3 being broken. Any info would be great.
P.S. I don't want to have a second bulb in the tail light housing. Thanks Kurt G.

Turn signals were optional in 1954. If the truck didn't have factory installed turn signals, the dealer could add them. The problem = Ford dealers sometimes used gypo (aftermarket) switches. Turn signal switches were marked with Ford ID numbers (I don't know where or how). The two switches used in 1954 were B4C-13341-A (marked FDM-13341-A) and 1A-13341-A, later changed to B5A-13341-A (Marked FDH-13341-A or FAC-13341-A or FAC-18440-A).
How many contacts on your present taillight bulbs? It should be two (6 volt #1154). The bulbs are the same whether you have turn signal switch or not. There was no provision for two taillight bulbs in the rear lamps back then. The same double contact bulb was used for tail lights/brake lights/turn signals.

I've got 1157 bulbs in rear, twin elemets. Whts strange is that I also had an extra assemble, but it also has 3 wires. My question is how do the tail lights wire in. how does the turns signal over ride the brake light. Kurt G.

1157 bulbs are 12 volt, as are 1034's. 1154 is correct for 6 volt.
The truck has been converted to 12v. Infact I just finished heater and wiper motor change. Used motors out of 63 f-100. had to use the 63 wiper switch, but there was no column for me to take. The last thing for me to fix electrically is the turn signals. problem is that I ran out of money, didn't have much to start with anyway, and must use old scrap yard parts. I don't know how to make the 3 wire signal work with brake and running lights. I hope someone can help. Thanks Kurt G.

There's no easy way to use the brake lights as turn signals unless the turn switch is set up to do that. Having only three wires your switch is not. It could be done with a trailer light adapter designed for a vehicle with separate turn/brake lights. Trailers typically use the same filament for the turn/brake lights.

Reason: Alter signiture
I tried to use the same taillight for taillight, turn and brake light on my '54. I couldn't do it, because my truck never had the self cancelling trun signals installed by the factory. I had the add on turnsignals added later to meet the PA state inspections. So after trying for several hours, I decided to add another light for turnsignals in the rear. To get the all in one turn brake and light, I think you have to be wired into the wires in the steering column and the master cylinder. I did however use the parking lights as teh turnsignals in the front and was able to get the big blinkers off the fenders.
