I was thinking of getting some Air horns.
Good idea or not?
If I do get them, I would like to mount them out of sight, where is a good spot?
Are they easy to hook up?
I have a 2000 F-250, would also like to keep the stock horn also?
Any ideas, on Hornsor tips would be great.
A good place i seen was under the hood, under the rubber piece that hides the trans cooler and such it says ford on it. Between the grille and the core support.
Well i basically have enough air horn to make someone crap their pants, ive had a girl walk up unsuspectingly and hit my steering wheel, and pee her pants already. I scare my girlfriend every time i hit them too, and she knows its coming. Google Siege engineering, i think they make a great product. I have their Strategic Seperates air horns, 5 mounted on a common rail, a 3 gallon tank, Viair 380C @ 200psi. I have mine setup where i have a switch concealed under the dash, to switch from regular weenie horn to the air horns. The cool thing about that is when i get out of the truck i can hit the lock button on my fob twice for the "toot" where the horns just slip out a tiny hit of air, (not much louder than stock horn) or i can double tap the panic button which lets everyone within a mile or so know that my truck is locked. I also have a switch to turn the compressor on and off. (i added on-board air too because it will come in handy one day). It took a few days working on it an hour or three here and there, but it's done. I have all the pics of the stuff before i put it in the truck, however i lost my mom's camera and just found it last night in my center console. I am meaning to take pictures. I do not run a spare tire, so i mounted the horns on a flat piece of 3/16" steel, that mounts to the front part of the "X" that the spare tire rests up against when raised. The horns face straight out, they do not need any "help" by directing them at the ground. They are almost as wide as the width between the shocks. The compressor is mounted on the inside framerail just behind the elbow where my exhaust turns up through my bed, and the tank is mounted just on the other side of the framerail.

Having them is legal. Using them at inappropriate times, well thats on the borderline of being illegal. Like tonight coming home from shopping i was passing a neighboring-county highschool, several hundred people and cars line up along the road for fireworks. I could have used them then just for the "helluvit". That's inappropriate and could get some heat attention. Since i have air horns, powerful ones, i just dont lay on them to be noticed. However if someone does something they shouldn't have they will know. And, it is a great tool for scaring deer. Just one quick sharp crack of the horns will make deer scatter if one is in the path. So much, i made one fall over on it's side, it was trying to jump sideways on grass. It was a sight to see
I pretty much use them like Kris said .. when someone pulls out in front of me, when I NEED to .. here's my install with photos of my whole system. I now have a total of 6 horns (2 switches)
-Seige Engineering Kong II horns
-Buell Strombos 18" air horns
Do some research on the horns you buy though. I looked forever for that perfect "train sound" but my wife wont let me put a set on the truck. Still working on that. I fell in live with the Kong II. However Siege Engineering no longer makes them. <sigh>
