Hey TD, what you think as far as an addition though. Not as a replacement Right? Installed to come on at say 200 degrees +/- as I still have the stock T-stat. In Texas it gets Dang hottt. So I'm still wondering about the benifits. What yah think. I'm not sold on replacing the the Stock Fan with Electric ones. Personaly I don't think its a good idea. But hey thats just me. But if what Empire says is true, I would consider adding it to the stock system. Country

The electric fans need to be at least a total of 6000 cfm. The Flex-a-lite unit is rated at that and it is not recomended for towing more than about 10K lbs.

I've done some looking, and there are electric fans out that where you can get over the 6000 cfm mark with two installed toegether, but they are hard to find. When I was looking at them last week, some of these high flow boogers also had large motors on them and I'm not so sure that they would actually fit.

Here are some fan links.

Well it sounds by your research that an Alternator upgrade would also need to be done, to keep up with the demand of the size of the motors you would need to provide sufficient CFM. And this is based on a Fan replacement if I'm following you correctly.Country

AAHH ok I got it now!! Sounds good in theory. I truely hope it works too. I don't like the way my truck acts when it runs hot or better said where the Fan is kicking on and off. It runs slugish. Thats why I don't understand where some guys swicth to the 203 stat. Am I missing Something here on the 203 stat I mean? . I like the idea of a pusher fan. So much so that I'm gonna do it!! It can't hurt. Some wire a swicth/AT or manual, and a fan. Seems easy enough..Country

Country... The 203° stat brings the engine internals, from what I've read, to where International designed the engine to run. Reportedly, Ford didn't have any of these 203° stats in their parts lineup when they got the engine from Navistar, so they just decided to pop in the long stem 195° stat and.... that's why we are where we are.... again, that's what i've gathered from all the discussion threads on this issue in FTE.

Also, I think I agree with teh dual alternator approach, too. Looks like each of the high cfm 16-inchers will pul 18 amps at full load, which means that two of them would pull up to 36 amps above whatever our truck is pulling today.

AAHHH, I had no idea about the T-STAT. Gonna have to check this out then. I think I will try just a single pusher fan in front to add some extra cfm and see what happens. Thanks F250 Appreciate it.. Country

I believe our stock Alt's are of the 103 amp output kind or type. But there are variuos Co's out there that make 200 amp altermators for our Trucks for about $325 +/-. I just replaced the Alternator on the wifes EX on Sunday, it cost me $210 from Kragen Auto. Brand new, not a rebuild. And it is Also the 130 amp Alt. With Liftime Warranty. What ever that means.. When I do the push fan I will use the HO 200 amp Alt along with fan mod. Seems like over kill but I'm not sure if there is such a thing with an Alternator install. Lights, Stereo and all the other gadgets we put on our trucks. Yeah big Alternators are good. IMHO. Country.

The only concern I would have is that the two 2700 cfm fans still don't match OEM capabilities.

Basicaly the fan clutch is the only part that goes out. It will stay in lock mod when it goes out. It'll sound like a Semi-Truck is driving next to you. At or around every oil change I got in the habit of grabbing the fan and spinning it. This will tell you also if the fan clutch has begun to wear. It should spin freely. Country

Simple- not really. Either a Big Hill, a big trailer, and a hot day, or Possibly a heat gun, and worse comes to worse, an oven. With the engine cool, or even warm, the fan should spin very thickly? Meaning not very easily. You Might be able to take a heat gun to the fan clutch until it reaches 250 and see if it locks up. Or remove the fan altogether and put it in the oven set to 250 for a half hour. If the fan ever fresspins easily, it is bad.

It's just the clutch letting go, isn't it?. I get 4-5 pulls with ressitance and it begins to free up. I do believe the fan is OK, right? Or am I missing something? Thanks Country
