If you do add an electric fan, ADD one, do not replace the stock hydroclutch fan. If you read flex-a-lites web site, they expressly caution you against running an electric fan as your primary source of cooling.
I made my own set up for about $150, I would post a pic but I havent figured out how yet! You have to ensure that the fans you select move a min of 5000 CFM, I used two 5500 CFM fans, made my own shroud and bought a 180*-205* electrically contolled thermostat with auto on for A/C. I have a 24ft toy hauler, I think 7000 empty, loaded, water, 3 250F race bikes and a 4 wheeler, maybee 10500lbs, I have never had any problems with overheating, in town loaded my temps stay @ 205*+, on the HWY they run 195*.
There is a thread with a picuture of my set up 5 pages back!
yeah the biggest thing i pull is my 17ft bass boat with gas and the trailer it is like 1400lbs and maybe my bike in the back @ 375 lbs with fuel so my truck wont even feel that. but now i have a clue of that size of fan to get. could you send me how to wire it up?
okjust gor 2 16" 2700 cfm fans that should be good, right? now all i need to d is make a shroud and find a wat to hook it up to the cooling system any ideas would be a big help.
Not only will flex a lite site state do not use it for primary cooling source, but ive read on other boards about the electric fans not up to doing the job. Just a word of caution....
Well, like you said, you're going to need to fab up a shroud, and wire in some type of thermal switch (with AC override) like Dad did above. You'll surely need a dedicated sensor there someplace (I believe there is a spare plug in the water pump housing) but beyond that, it's up to you how & where you mount everything. To me that's the fun part of DIY stuff like this!!
You can buy a electronic thermostat at O-Riley's, Advanced or just about any auto parts store, generally around 30 bucks, Make sure you get the adjustable thermostat in the range your looking for !80-210 should be fine, Then ones I have hoooked up come with an auto on for the A/C,. You just spilce into the wire going to the A/C clutch! Hope this helps.

The pusher fan i installed really helped my a/c, and its keeps my egts and tranny temps down. I recommend going that route for doing something "on the cheap."
bump still need to know where to get the right parts. i have seen like 50 temp switches out there what one is the right one? and can someone post pics of a custom fan shroud so i know where to go from there
Empiretc, you actually noticed a drop in EGT's with a pusher fan installed? How much? I'm wondering if this would be cost effective for me to add to my truck. Got some details. What size did you go with? Etc...Thanks Country
Guys, have you ever opened the hood on your truck when the clutch fan is engaged? Holy wind storm Batman! I can't see two 2700cfm fans competing with the OEM clutch fan engaged, this factory fan is animal. Wonder what the CFM's of the electric fans are when you put them up against three radiators?!
