I was looking for a Mercury tailgate for my 1956 and was sold the whole truck for $100 and removal. I was told it was a 1972 when I got it, but someone has mentioned that Mercurys weren't made after 1967. I presume this may be a fairly rare truck though it is pretty far gone and only has limited parts left like a nice grille, the step plates on the box and the drive train is still intact.
Could anyone confirm what year it would be? Pictures in my gallery.
Thanks

From the grille it appears to be a '68 or '69, I can't see it clearly enough to tell. From what I understand, the U.S. models had a painted grille on the base model in '69, but they may have done things a little differently on the Mercury trucks in Canada.
I pulled the rearend tag to see what I had, (darn no posi), and it shows a 3.25 9" built in spring of 1968. Will try to find the vin code to see for sure but it looks like it may be a 1968 Mercury.

I posted in your other thread that 1966 and later Merc pickups used similar VIN plates to what Ford used, so your VIN can be decoded here.
'68 was the last year Mercury trucks were built and sold in Canada. It looks like you have the hood and doors from a different truck. The hood should have enough holes across the front to put MERCURY letters across, and I don't think Merc's had emblems on the sides of the hood. My '68 Merc has MERCURY M-100 emblems on the sides of the cowl. Great score on that tailgate! That's the one thing mine is missing. Mine has a VIN plate on the door (yours might not if the doors were changed), and the VIN is also on the frame, on the front somewhere. My VIN is identical to a FORD vin.
