Am I Crazzy?!

I have a '93 F150 with the 5.0 EFI. Not enough power for pulling trailer, or even going up a hill with a headwind!
I have the opportunity to put a recently rebuilt 351 ('89) that has been bored and stroked with a little over 300 HP in my truck. I intend on using my existing EFI, alternater, AC, etc. I understand I will have to find a different lower intake to fit the wider 351.
Am I going to regret this swap?! Even though it will physically fit, is it too much of a change and what wopuld be some of the obsticles I will run into? (I'm considereing a junk yard 351 computer. Or just change the plug wires at the distributor to accomodate the different 351 firing order?)

you'll have to change the cam to change the firing order. u'll proobably need a 351w computer. does your truck have mass air?

If you have Mass Air you would have a mass air meter next to the air box. It would be in line between the air box and the throttle body. You shouldn't have it. '94 was the first year, I believe.

As far as your accessories and brackets. They should all work. I did a swap earlier this year and used 302 brackets/accessories for my 351. You just use different holes in the brackets. The alternator is the same. The lower AND upper intakes are different. So those will not work. The upper intake for a 351 has a rectangular pattern and the 302 has an oval shape pattern. The lower intake for a 351 is wider. Same with the y-pipe, wider than the 302 y-pipe. So you will have to get those. (By the way there is a complete fuel injection from a 351w on ebay right now. Not sure of the quality, but it could be worth a look.)

You would absolutely need a computer that would match your new engine/tranny combo. Not only is the firing order different, but the sensor readings could be a little off, like the 02 sensor and the MAF sensor. You would have to swap over the sensors if the 351 doesn't have any on it, that would be a pain.

Is the swap worth it? Stock 302 has 195HP, stock 351 has 240HP (according to Chiltons). Not sure of the torque. I had a fun time doing my swap. Well worth it for me.

Great advise!
Another fellow mentioned having to get new torque converter, harmonic balancer, flywheel and such. I have an automatic tranny. Could this be true?
He also suggested 24lb fuel injectors (or bigger) and some other crap.
Seems like a lot of additional cost for some aditional HP / Torque.

What do you think of "my other option" :
Put a stroker kit in it to bring it up to a 331, RV cam, spacer between upper and lower intake manifolds, &/or smaller lighter pully wheels on the alternator, AC compressor, power steering, etc.???
I would probably have to at least get a custom burned chip to go with these changes. Right?
