Thinking of buying a friends '99 F-350 PSD to tow my race car with an open car hauler. 150k miles, auto trans and price is 10K.
Have searched for common maintenance issues besides replacing all fluids and filters, belts, hoses and shocks..
CMP sensor
Ball joints
Oasis report
Any other maintenance items that are probably due for replacement or are likely to go bad. I will be making 2-4 1000 mile rountrip hauls per year.
CMP (or CPS, same thing) sensor is not a maintenance item. It's simply a sensor that needs to be replaced when it fails. Some go bad, some never have issues. Many folks keep a spare just in case, because when it does fail you are stranded without a replacement.
Same thing with ball joints. Just replace them when they go bad.
150K miles is pretty low for a '99. Sounds like you are getting a nice truck.
