Talking The transformation is complete...almost.

IT'S ALIVE!! I finally got to drive my truck, it's been 3 months since I started my 5spd swap. I also changed a bunch of other things as well. The swap was no cake walk. I swapped in the ZF5spd, and the BW1356 T-case from the 1990 F-250. I also had to use the crossmember, and the rear driveshaft, which has a bigger slip spline and bigger U-joints. I also added the PW, PL, functioning turn signal switch, brake booster/master cylinder from the 90' got a new prodigy brake controller, new pillar mounted gauges, new starter/battery/cables, fixed some burnt wires, added a 6 circuit fuse block, and got to sand and rubber coat my floor. I still have to do some wiring to the tranny/t-case for lights and stuff, and modify my door panels for the switches. I also was able to use an 85' clutch master with an adjustable pushrod, the clutch hose from the 90' connected right to it. Man it feels good to be riding high again.

man, i know how you feel, it's sad, sometimes depressing to see your good truck sittin' disassembled, while most others drive by shakin their heads, or even worse, refer you to a guy who buys "old junk cars like that one"

I've already noticed an increase in MPG. I normally have to switch tanks after 100 miles. I have gone about 110 miles and still have a 1/4 of a tank left. Having the vacumn gauge also helps me keep my foot out of the go pedal.

Sycostang67, Is that the front or rear tank? My 86 F250 4x4 has a 20 gal frt. & a 19 gal rear. Or close to that. but I have never been able to get over 17 in it. I ask because what mileage do you get. Mine gets 9.5 -10.5 empty @ 65 MPH. Town & road 9.5 MPG.
I just pulled our travel trailer about 10,000# to it's & our new home and I got 5.79 MPG driving 60 MPH I keep complaining about my mileage maybe I better SHUT UP ABOUT IT. Craig

I'm still on the rear tank. I have put about 160 miles on it now, usually goes dry about 120, and half the mileage was pulling my empty flatbed(#2450). Before I was getting 7.5mpg, I'll see how much it has gone up when I run it out and fill it again.

I did a partial fill on my front tank, and looks like I am getting just under 11 mpg. Thats almost 4 mpg better than with the C6. Considering I was able to sell extra parts from the donor truck this swap cost me less than $500. It shouldn't take to long for that tranny to work itself off in fuel savings.

I was gonna get it painted this year, but my friend who was gonna do it for me is going to Wyotech for 18 months. We decided to wait until he gets back so we can do a more professional job. I will at least get it all primed 1 color this year.
