Well I'm doing some pre-brainstorming right now...
I have a CB on a pedestal mount on the transmission hump.. Few months I'll be adding HAM, 2 Trunks and a Satellite Imagery screen there.. I want to know if anyone knows how I could mount the CB up on the headliner where the computer is normally at.. I don't have a computer up there, its just empty.. I don't want to remove the CB because I do need it when I need to relay weather information to truckers on 35.. Nothing worst then seeing a suicide jockey loose control because of high wind..
So if anyone knows for sure.. Is it possible to mount it up there? I've never taken my head liner off to see how the top is..
smebody posted the name of the company that makes enter consoles for polics and contractors for their radio an computers.
I recently got heir catalog, but leftit at work.
I will get it for you on Sunday

I know what your talking about.. I got to see one and it wasn't very impressive.. I love my radios but not that much.. That thing was bulky and not real pretty.. I actually got a setup drawn out that I'm going to use to build my entire center mount.. I need to add light switches, siren (probably) and other things.. Rather not have that..
Plus I emailed the company and they said that I would have to modify it because I have the manual transfer case.. Not the ESOF switch.. IT comes down right where the level sits in 2H..
you have the bench seat or captain chairs and a center console?
I have the 40/20/40 split.. No intentions of removing my center seat.. I already got everything setup for the other radios and mounting them in the middle.. I'm building an entire setup to bolt down there..
I just need to know if I can mount a CB to the headliner.. If there's something up there without having to rip my entire headliner off.. just wondering if anyone has done it..
How about you get a flat piece of metal and bolt it under the headliner to the sunvisor retaining clip mounts and have two carriage bolts drop through that flat bar and headliner so that you can bolt a CB bracket to it. Any machine shop can punch the square holes in that bar for the carriage bolts and they would make it so you could tighten the bracket without having to have a wrench on the backside.
Anybody see any reason this wouldn't work for him?

The first is a thread that I posted in another forum. It's a great site for radio info. The second is the link to the only overhead install I've seen. I like it....I'm still trying to gather the appropriate funds for my install but I'm going to be doing something like Mike did.
Good Luck bro, and post pics of whatever you do........
I had my headliner down when I installed roof marker lights. There is only the headliner and the roof skin. There are some reinforcements running across but nothing else. It would be easy to run your wiring, just follow down the w/shield pillar like the marker lamp wiring does. I don't know how you attach the radio to the roof, unless you have an overhead console that it would fit in to ( my truck does not have one).
Hope this helps.
Do BOT waste your money on the Pace Edwards products. I did and was sorely disappointed. The quality is poor and the unit hangs down in to your line of vision. It looks like a XXXMart install in a $50 K truck.

Yes, I know, it is in Australia............ the problem is the Aussies are the only people I know of that make classy overhead consoles with any great selection. They are big on adding extra radios with the poor cell phone coverage in the outback. If you look around an australian 4x4 magazine there are probably ten different places trying to peddle consoles like this. I think though, that if you look beneath the surface, all the aftermarket radio consoles for our trucks span all the way from the front, to the center of the roof. I think the reason for this is that it utilizes the center map light mount as a mount for the console, giving it the ability to support the weight of a radio. You could probably make something out of MDF, have it upholstered in leather, mount it between the original console mount and the map light mount, and it would be a totally stock looking setup.
