<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I can only feel this chatter when Im pulling my trailer and when I make a left or right hand turn. I took it to a shop and they told me I needed new diff fluid, had it done and still chatters though not quite as bad. I talked to a ford mech yesterday he asked me what type of fluid they used I didnt know at the time so could not tell him. I checked the work order from them and they used 75W90 Synthetic GR / 3L . No mention of friction modifier on the work order.
Have these guys put the wrong fluid in my diff.
Anyones thoughts appreciated, thanks

Get the fric mod from ford and put it in.It allows the clutches to slip when you turn.It might take a few miles to mix together but should take care of if there are no internall problems
It is best to check your owners manual for the type of differential fluid to use in your truck. My 2002 owners manual for the 7700 model says: For 10.25 inch Traction-Lok axles, use 3.1L (6.5 pints) of Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant and 236 ml (8 oz.) of Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford Specification EST-M2C118-A.

+1, mine was doing the same after a fluid change so I dumped another bottle of modifier in there and the chatter is gone.
