DP Tuner MPG?

Hello-. I'm like most of you and don't rely on a lie-o-meter and look for real results. I am looking at a superchip for my 2002 PSD CC LB 4x4 AT. I am really interested in the DP Tuner after reading plenty of posts on FTE. I am lucky to have a friend that is going to let me run the chip in my truck for a tank of diesel to see if there is improvements. He has the EXACT same truck except for his is a 250 and he says he gets 16-18 around town, 17-20 highway on the economy mode on the Superchip. I average over the life of my truck 14.5. Best tank was 19 on LSD (low sulfur Diesel, not the other type), worst tank was 12. I am curious on the DP Tuner what others have seen for mileage. There was a testimonial on DP Tuner's site that said a guy got a solid 5 mpg improvement on an EX. I would be glad to get a solid 2-3 mpg better. Also, those of you that have DP, what tunes do you recommend? Right now I'm thinking an F5 multi-position switch with the F5 1-16 chip with the following programs:

Standard Stock
No start
80 Econo
120 Race
80 Tow

DP's are "shift on the fly", right? no uploading crap like the superchip?

Future truck mods include 4" turbo-back, 4-pillar gauges, EBPV Brake

Thanks!!

I have only run one tank through since installing my DP chip. Before I was averaging 15-15.5

My first tank I ran it on 80e about 50% and the 140smoke the other 50%. I was playing A LOT! Gunning it just to watch the black smoke and pulled my car hauler once about 50 miles and I still got 15.5.

I am going to run this next tank on 80e and drive normally. I really think I will get 17. But there are tons of guys out here with mpg info.

I'm a waiting for Jodys to open up their new shop so I can order my new DP tuner, I thought about ordering the F5, any thoughts? I tried to order mine the other day, but I was an hour too late before they closed, sucks to be me and the time difference.

I've never been lower than the high 14s. I usually get 15-16 around town and 17s on the highway. I've gotten over 18 on the highway now with the DP on 80 Econo. I'm pretty sure it would be better, but I just can't keep my damn foot out of it!! Even still, with all the extra power, it's never been below the high 14s. I keep hearing about trucks getting 12 or whatever unloaded, and I'd be looking for boost leaks or leaky up-pipes or something. There are guys getting 20+ driving very steadily at 65 max. I just can't do that -- I'd rather pay a little more and get home sooner, so I'm happy with 17-18 on the highway...

If I stay in 80eco with mine, I find I can't stay off the go pedal and consistently get 13-15.5 around town.

Me: 2000 CC, 4x4, heavy foot, tool box loaded up in the bed, plenty of hill climbs in CO, plenty of 70-80mph driving to work.

You won't be disappointed, but you wont be happy about your MPG situation. Ask most anyone here, and all the MPG mod claims are pretty much relative. Some guys should be getting well over 30mpg will all the mods they have done- if all the promises were true.

For best MPG, stay STOCK! If you call Jody, or get something else, you wont be able to keep your foot out of it. And that is what really kills the MPGs

Exactly what empiretc said...If i drive normally and stay under 2k rpm's even at a 75hp
setting (tc performance chip) I get 17 + around town and 20 + hwy (that is 65-67 mph) over 70 mph drops to 16-17.

Problem is with all my mods I am always looking for a chance to use the POWER under my foot and it seems I can't go 5 minutes thru town before I find someone I have to lay down some black smoke on!

If you want economy don't mod stay stock and the temptation to push that pedal a little harder won't be there!!
