I have a 87 F250 with the 460 engine. I am not geting much fuel to the carb. I have a new filter. If I take the line off at the carb and crank engine I get less than 1/8 pint, the pressure on 1 tank is about 4psi and 3 on the other. If I take the fuel line off before that valve which returns fuel to the tank I get a extra 1 1/2 psi and 3/4 of a pint in the same amount of time. I know my pressure is not very high but it seems my fuel return valve (don't know what it's called)is dumping most all the fuel back to the tank. Has anyone seen this valve go bad? does it sound like the problem? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!
Ok does your engine have the mechanical pump or the electical one? If it is the mechanical on eyou could pick on eup for a few bucks and just change it out and see what happens. If you are running a electric pump you many want to check for a clog in the inlet screen in the tank.
It has a electrical pump in each tank (no booster pump) and both have low pressure, that's what is odd. On one tank I checked the pressure between the tank and the valve that switches between the tanks and it was low there also. Guess I should check voltages to the pumps to be sure they are getting the full 12V.
