help repair
any one care to help me get my truck back together this weekend? i have the parts and tools. got tired of being jerked around by Tony at Tony's Auto Repair here in Atwater. he now says that the shaft in the transmission is installed backwards. im having my truck towed home on 6/29/07. im off work this weekend, any and all help is greatly appreciated. someone on craigslist has a c-6 transmission for sale, came out of a car. will this transmission work in my f-250? he has the torque converter and a shift kit that goes with it, selling it for $150.00.is this worth buying.

I think there are two different bellhousing patterns for the C6, so make sure you get the right one.
If you could swing getting it towed up here to Oakdale, I'd gladly give you a hand, I'm in the middle of putting my '31 Dodge Chassis together (why I need to get the wheels) and was going to start putting body parts on, etc...try to figure out what I'm doing for Motor mounts.
What all needs to be done to it?
EDIT: I must have delted a line somehow...I'm heading out to Turlock tomorrow to puck up a set of Jeep wheels (ofcourse I never thought I'd need the ones that I gave to Dale...), so will be in the area...I think Turlock and Atwater are only about 15 minutes apart? I could swing by, maybe we could figure out a plan.

I just went through the TCI installer list and the Accurate Transmisson List. They both show the same transmisson with 14'' tailshaft and slip yoke was used in cars and also used in F100-F350 2wd trucks with 332-428 FE engines. So you should be okay as long as you have a slip yoke end and not a bolt on , if its bolt on its a whole different can of worms.

And make sure that it's an FE bolt pattern C6. They made the C6 to fit virtually everything, so there's an FE pattern, a Windsor smallblock pattern which also fits the 351C and 300-6 and the big block pattern which fits the 429/460 and 351M/400 as well as the 6.9/7.3 diesel...so that's 3 different patterns, and since the pattern is cast into the case there's no removable bell to simply change. You gots to have the right one...
3Mike6, I've got complete set of 15" wheels off of an '85 Cherokee. C'mon up and you can have them... (and help me work on this darn project truck while you're up here...:rolleyes)

Also, don't forget to check the tailshaft as Gashog and myself have noted in prior posts.
