Do I need a speedo gear going from a 3.55 to a 4.10 gearing?
YES, you do. you will have to reduce to number of teeth. If you Google in speedo gears you can find charts the will give you what you need. They aren't that expensive so buying from the dealer is the best bet. I changed my wife's 88 Dodge from 4:10 to 3:54 a Dana 60. The speedo gear was $8 from the Dodge dealer. In fact the dealer was the cheapest including on-line.
The electronic speed sensors usually require a computer reflash. Older systems use gears.
If you see a walnut sized thingie with wires sticking out of it sitting on the top front of your differential, then you have an electronic speed sensor.
