shims!!
Hey fellas,
I have a 1998 F150 4X4 with 8.8 differential housing and 3.55 gearing. I am about to change to 4.10 gears and am making a list of BOM.
Will i need new shims?

PS. I am having a shop do the installation.

Remember with a 4x4 you have to change both front & rear gears. So you need parts for 2 sets of gears. Are you doing this or is a shop? If you are doing the change over I'm assuming you are an experienced mechanic? Because rear ends aren't the place to start learning about mechanics unless you have LOTS OF MONEY to WASTE.
