Exclamation Installed Volare, need rear sump 351w

Installed the Volare, installing a Jeep tilt, and swing pedals from a mid 80's Mustang and have run into a slight problem. I have a 1969 351W and need a list of potential donors for the rear sump oil pan. I did a search and was unable to locate a thread on this but know that it has been discussed before. Will any pre-80 small block ford rear sump pan work? Our local wrecking yards are not what I would call user friendly and seem to be a little higher than other areas. Thanks for the info.

Rear Sump Options

We used to run 4x4 truck or any van pan in our stock cars when we had to run a stock rear sump pan. Also, don't neglect your local marina. We have found rear sump 351W pans complete with windage trays on boats. Stock for marine engines.

You might also look into the Ford Racing swap pans for 351W into a Fox platform car (Mustang, Fairmont). A little more spendy than the junk yard parts though.

351W is a different pan than the 260/289/302 stuff is. Front is the same but rear pan seal is bigger on the 351W.

Good luck,
SPark

I'm not sure which vehicles had rear sumps, but 4x4 trucks would be a good start to look at. Don't forget the oil pump pickup and the dipstick. If you want new, Summit carries the Ford rear sump oil pan. It's around $135, part number FMS-M-6675-A58.

I bought mine from the local Ford dealer. It was the pan for installing a 351W in a fox body mustang. It did include the new oil pickup tube, the correct stud for the pickup support and a new pan gasket.

The 351W pan mounting surface is larger then the 260/289/302. In fact I think LM14 just said that.

Have Fun

You'd want a pan out of a Econoline or an 80's crown vic.

80's crown vic
Particularly police cars.
but 4x4 trucks would be a good start to look at.
80 and newer, as no 4x4 before 1980 had a stock 351W.
