Ok reading a post down farther about the tow tune flash to just the PCM has had me thinking. I don't have the funds for a full on selectable DP tuner. I have a boost gauge and will be adding a EGT in the next week or 2. After i have these added I was thinking about sending my PCM to jody and having it flashed with a tow tune.
I will only be towing as of right now at max 4,000lbs.
1. How many of you have driving as a daily driver in a tow tune?
2. How much did it change your MPG? from stock?
3. What HP tune was it?
Also what about towing with a pcm flashed to 80 econ? what would be the max limit for that tune for towing?

ok i found somone using the 80 econo towing 8500lbs so i guess i'm going to be far enough under that with my 4k to be safe.. but still have the question about the tow tune and DD mpg.
You have two different options for the tow tunes. Either the 40hp or 60hp. The 40hp is more suited for heavy pulls. You don't have to worry about the temps as much with it and of course you have a less hp than the 60. In other words, there is a trade off. Since you are just towing around 4000lbs, I would suggest the 60 tow. The mpg will stay about the same as stock with these tunes. The tow tunes will generally get better fuel milage around town than the 80 eco. I almost always run the tow tunes around town. Hope this helps.
I thought there was an 80 Tow tune as well? Anyrate, I use the 60 tow tune when pulling the trailer around, and very much like it. I usually just run the 80 econ tune though, haven't really tried the 60tow for DD, might have to give it a shot.
i'm going to try my best not to buy the f-5. Altho a tow tune and 80 econo would be nice along with a high idle and some kinda WOT stupid tune.... but there we go again pms... I think a 80 econo on the pcm would be good for me, i don't tow anything heavy. and i do drive it to work and for other errands. I just got the truck less than 2 months ago and i am in the process of rebuilding the turbo now. It would be nice to have a selectable but i think the 80 econo would be more than enough for what i need. and funds aren't real great right now, so i'm thinking about going the 75.00 route. and i'm stillruning the factory exhuast with the muffler delete. so i can use the extra money to get a cannon
I would go ahead an get the F5 to get some flexability that way you can search around for your best tune, four your set up.It sure is nice to have an option ,an its also a lot of fun.Spend the $ you will not be sorry.
