Psd Excursion fuel problems

I have a psd Excursion and the other day we were going swimmimming and after pulling a large hill it started running rough. I left the swimming hole and a bout 5 miles later it died. I let the pressure off with the lever on the bowl and it ran fine again. So I thought it must be the filter and went to the parts store to get. After it died and repeating letting off pressure about 5 times to get 8 miles. I came home changed filter and it ran ok for about 15 miles. I read about maybe having a leak in quick connect. Any other ideas?

Changed cps, still running rough. Took of fuel pump and blew air through it. Is there a filter in the tank or screen that could be clogged?

I blew out the feeder pump. I got a scanner from the shop up the road. I am getting codes P1316, P0478, and P0236. Can anyone narrow down what I need to look at?

Talk to a friend at ford dealer he said it sounded like harness under valve cover. I pulled the driver side and then noticed the wires on the opposite side of the valve cover were bare. So I tried to seperate them and all the insulation crumbled. Now I have to find a junker to get another plug and splice it in. The guy at Ford did not tell me price for entire harness, but that it was extremely expensive.

you mean the wires under the valve cover were crumbling or outside it? You might be better off with getting a new one. You might end up with the same problem with a used wire.

I would think it would be the one in the tank. I didn't know that it had 2.

It was the wires that plug into the ones that are in the valve covers. The dealer list is $650. for the harness under the hood. I patched the drivers side and then discovered it was doing the same thing on the pass side. Is this a common problem? I need to find an aftermarket one if there is such a thing. I did find a used one for $150 from junkyard. I really like this X, but I have hadf to do a lot of work on it since I bought in October.

Well I fixed both sides of wiring harness at valve covers. Still running rough. Is there a chance these wires touching could have damaged injectors or something else? Do you have unhook batteries to reset computer?
