Post Trick Flow?

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Trick Flow product line I am thinking of using thereTwisted Wedge heads, gasket sets, cams and pistons. Thank you for the help. Shaun

Just as an added not I also plan on using a Holley Street Avenger carb 670cfm. Edelbrock Air-Gap intake manifold. Not sure about the rods, rings ect... if you have any sugestions let me know.

Trick Flow?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Nov-02 AT 02:07 PM (EST)]Hey Sam and welcome to FTE!!

I was thinking about using a set of their heads on my 351W rebuild, but lucked into a set of freshly rebuilt 289 heads off a race engine. My flow numbers aren't as good as Twisted Wedge but I'm close (for 1/3 the cost). The extra weight of my iron heads doesn't bother me much as my 4x4 is heavy anyway.

Since I did mine, Roush heads have really taken off in popularity. I haven't checked their flow numbers but I hear they are just as good. And from what I hear they are a little cheaper than Twisted Wedges, although still near $1,000 complete. If money were no object that's what I'd do.

Remember though, when you have all that air flowing through the top, it has to have somewhere to go. Make sure you have a good free flowing exhaust or you've wasted that money on top.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Edit to add: You'll love that Holley Avenger, I sure do mine!!!!
If you're thinkin about the ignition, an MSD controller with their pro billet distributor is awful nice too.

Ron

The twisted wedge heads flow 251cfm and the roush 200's flow about the same but the best head to buy is the one with the flow #'s you want with the smallest intake port cc. The trick flow have 170cc and the roush have 200cc. The roush would be good on a 351 and larger engine but if its a 302 go with the twisted wedge or roush 180's, but they flow a bit less, 225cfm I think. I would pick my head choice by the cam and compression I would be using and match them accordingly.:-X12

If you don't mind high flowing iron go to www.powerheads.com. My buddy picked up a set for his 95 mustang and they woke it up considerably. They flow like 217 on the intake but they flow 174cfm on the exhaust. These would be awesome with a single pattern cam. They also flow better at mid lift than most heads out there. If you buy them be sure and tap all the holes to get the paint out because we didn't listen to their warning and almost ended up pulling the heads again.

Stay with the 170-180 intake ports. Anything bigger and you'll be building a high rpm race engine; probobly not what you want in your truck.
