I just put the NAPA 6637 air filter on last night. That is the only mod that has been done. 110000 miles. 7.3 PSD
Problem: This just started today. When the truck is driven regular to a little heavy on the throttle it makes a hissing noise for about a second after every shift. It does not do it as bad if I am not in the throttle as hard. The noise sounds like it is coming from around the pedal area.
Please help since we are going on a long trip for about a week starting this Friday.
The sound has always been there, but you couldn't hear it with all the stock filter surrounds. It's just excess pressure blowing back through the turbine vanes. Won't hurt a thing.
It's jus' Darth Vader talkin' to ya'! Come over to the Dark Side.... Mod that Powerstroke s'more...

It's one of my favorite sounds that my truck makes. As Pop said, it's just excess pressure being released back through the intake side. Makes me smile when I hear it.
