Anyone ever have a torqueshift start out in 2nd or 3rd gear occasionally, or just neutral out for a second????
I have a 04 350 with 50K and it does this occasionally but usually on the "first shift" of the day then it runs fine. I am due for a trans service but I wouldn't think dirty fluid would do this.

Any/all help appreciated
With 50,000 miles on the ODO, did you flush or change your Mercon SP tranny fluid on/before 30,000 miles as required? If you now have 50,000 miles and yoru stating your due... am I missing something or did you not flush it yet?
If it was changed, did they use Mercon SP fluid and not Mercon or Mercon V?
amsoil has a equivelent to mercon sp that i might try depending on how much my dealer wants for the service.
Don't waste your money on the Amsoil "supposed" Mercon SP, the fluid claims to be both Mercon, Mercon V and Mercon SP compatible. Unfortunately the specs for Mercon/Mercon V are totally different from the specs for Mercon SP and the two are not compatible or interchangeable. More smoke & mirror advertising from Amsoil.

I must confess that I have not changed the trans fluid yet. First time in my life I let something get past a due date .. but anyway, It honestly feels like a shift silonoid to me.
Does old fluid mess up these coils or what . The fluid is bright pink/no stink. The truck really hasn't worked that hard

You are at the correct mileage to have one of the solenoids fail. You are going to need to take it in and let the tech hook it up to the computer to locate the exact problem, but i believe your solenoid hunch is correct.
im a lttle late on my 05 60,000 mile tranny flush and mine seems to be working just fine. If its the first shifts of the day, maybe your tranny is just still cold. Mine shifts a little rougher and holds gears a little longer for the first half mile in the morning. Just a thought

Thats what I needed to hear.
Thanks for the insight. I heard about these going bad but never heard WHEN they went bad.
Thanks again
