alternative to sandblasting a frame

Hey Guys,

What's the best way to prep a frame, other than sand blasting, to make it ready for painting?

hey there you might have better luck in a different forum, but if you're patient with a 3 or 4" wire wheel on a grinder you'll have pretty good turnout. I started doing that to mine and it's looking pretty good, just very tedious.

I did exactly what scottie said. I would recommend first try to get as much grease grime off before, or the wheel just smears it around. A small scraper and oven cleaner works, but oven cleaner takes off paint. I usually wash up later with ajax dish soap and a brush. It is the harshest (probably highest pH) and leaves no residue.

I powerwashed it first- the wire wheel worked well at removing the surface rust.

I power washed then used a 3M abrasive wheel. Cleaned up nice. Have pics in my gallery. I've since used rust encasulator and then chasis black from Eastwood. Those pics are not in the gallery yet

Pressure washer with a sandblaster attachment? If you can't find or rent one of those locally, google will find you a few sources.
