i just bought my fx2 thinking that it was 2wd.... after the deal was done i got in the truck and noticed that it was 4wd.....BONUS! i had test driven several and then i saw the one i had to have...it had all the options i wanted the shadow grey color, i mean everything! so now i am left wondering what is the difference between an fx2 sport and an fx4? i was under the impression that fx2 meant 2wd and fx4 meant 4wd... either way it worked out for me because i got the truck i wanted and it ended up being 4wd too. just a case of odd luck!

I thought so too! The FX4 is 4x4 and the FX2, I am pretty sure is 4x2. I'm with VFR Man, I would like to see that window sticker.

sorry, but:

1. all FX2's are 4x2's. so you can't have a FX2 then.

2. all FX4's are 4x4's.

3. unless the dealer is like a wannabe poser and switched the decals on the side of the bed....

4. post some pics of your truck or the window sticker

I'm a little surprised that it's still happening at Ford but when I bought a new short WB 1985 F150 XLT Lariat. The window sticker said it had a EFI 302. 1985 was the first year for the throttle body fuel injected 302 in the trucks.
When I raised the hood, the large polished aluminum breather cover said 5.8L HO 4V.
I knew something wasn't right but I didn't say anything until after the sale.

Yeehaw would that truck run. It turned to also be the last year for the 4V carbureted engines and I got one of the last ones.

 

the fx4 is 4wd with the rancho suspension and the offroad package....the fx2 sport comes on 4wd and 2wd...it is a package that has it's own special black leather interior... it is a sporty model with a different grille and front bumper and your option of 18 or 20 inch wheels. will post a picture tomorrow.

 

I have an 07 FX2 Sport. It's a 4x2. Mine came with a cloth checked interior with the word "sport" on the seat back and the word "sport" in the center of the instrument cluster.

 

sorry but on ford.com and the ford order guides, it specifically says the FX2 package is 4x2 only. I don't know how you can keep saying it is a 4x4. if you post pics, post pics of the 4x4 switch in your dash too.

the FX2 comes in either cloth or optional leather seats. The standard 18's are unique to the FX2, but the 20's are the same as the optional ones on the FX4 and Lariat.

 

this is f'ed up! i thought i was buying a 2wd truck....the fx2... and like i said when i was sitting in the truck with my salesman after the deal was done i saw the 2H 4H 4L **** and said hey i thought this was a 2wd...... i just checked my window sticker and it does in fact say 4x2.... it is around 1:30 am and i just went outside in the dark and went under the front end of my truck and grabbed the front half shafts of the 4wd. the sticker on the rear quarter of the bed says fx2 sport... my interior is black leather that says sport in red across the seat.... it says sport under the speedo... it has the 20 inch wheels. now it is obviously a mistake from the factory... but they don't put the sport seats in the fx4 do they? i wonder if this was a special order that someone did buy once it was done. all i know is i have this truck that looks sweet as hell! but should i contact the dealer? the only reason is i am worried that if i have a warranty problem and i bring in this 4wd truck they may say hey this is not the truck that atches the vin#.... the sticker price was 37,090.00..... it's loaded, and i guess you could say i got 4wd for free, because the window sticker says 4x2. what do you guys make of this....and yes i will post some pictures as soon as i have a chance. i will take pictures of the front half shafts, the window sticker, the fx2 sport sticker and the 2H 4H 4L ****. thanks for everyones input... we will get to the bottom of this. -tony

 

That is very odd!! Check that the vin# on the truck matches the vin# on the window sticker and the vin# on the registration. Maybe there is a mix up with something there. Sounds like it may be what you said, somebody may have ordered it and then didn't take it but I didn't think that your combination was even an option when ordering. Keep updating everyone about this, it is very curios.

 

a little different but, a dealer her in sanantonio sells f-150 STX'S with cruise/tilt/pw/pl, and every other dealer that i have shopped says STX's dont have those options, but this dealer does.... just my 2 cents.... thanks...

 

ok i figured it out this morning.... i got under the truck this morning in the daylight.... and now i am a little disappointed.... the dash does have the 2H 4H 4L ****, but last night i thought i was grabbing the 4wd half shafts, but it was the steering rack. so i guess the only mess up was the 4wd **** on the dash. so to sum up my truck is and fx2 and it is 2wd. i bought my truck thinking it was a 2wd, because here in louisville kentucky we don't get much snow, and i don't go off-road... and here i thought i was getting 4wd for free, turns out i just got the **** for free...haha.
