DFPE question

The SES light came on my 99 F250SD 5.4l -error code was P0401 - low egr flow. The egr valve tested ok. Did the voltage test on the DFPE with the ignition on. The voltage didn't change when I pulled vacuum on the ref port. Ford dealer wants $125 for it. Rockauto has 3 different ones for less than $60. Any reason not to use a non-FMCO part in this case?

I would still stick to motorcraft parts, but you can get them from other sources than the dealer. Standard makes decent parts too, but I'd still use motorcraft.

standard & napa both sell them I have used both with no problems.The ford price sounds very high.

Bought the Napa part for $65 plus tax. Not as cheap as getting it from Rockauto with 2 day shipping, but the convenience of being able to finish the job was worth it. I cleared the SES by disconnecting the battery. Does this clear the code, or do I need to use a scanner to do so?
