Hi Ford Fans,
My 77 F250 did a funny thing recently and kept doing it. Suddenly, the speedometer gage (needle itself) began "jumping". As I'm driving, it will hover somewhere around where the accurate speed is, but also bouncing up say 30-40 mph higher than that, and then returning. Anyone experience this, is it fixable by a guy with a few tools and a rudimentary knowledge of mechanics? I'd rather remedy it myself than go to a mechanic these days. Thanks!
Tim
Sounds like your cable is binding in the cable sheath - probably gumming up with crud. Try removing it and flushing it with a good lube spray first. If you can't get it cleaned/freed up, the cable can be replaced, or the cable/sheath assy.
