adding tow commander

Has anyone intalled the tow commander without taking it back to the dealer they want $850.00 to install

Welcome to FTE!

The dealer has to reprogram the computer so the Tow Command will work properly.

Otherwise you install the TBC and a new master cylinder. A lot of guys have done this and just had the dealer reprogram stuff for them.
