2000 7.3 cutting out

2000 7.3 cutting out
i have a 2000 excursion that feels like it is stuttering or cutting out when driving at different speeds and sometimes while idling it will just randomly just die.
any ideas on what it might be?

Poohbear has got the right idea on where to start, CPS the most diagnosed problem
on these trucks I don,t know what the new part # is but it only cost about 25.00
from the dealer one of the other members will chime in (hint) and leave that part #
for you.

Has any one here bought and used the sensor that F250_ recomended from http://www.dfuser.com/mfg/powerstrok...rs/Sensors.php ? I hate to buy it and wait for it in the mail just to find out it not a genuine or good quality part... Not that the factory one sounds all that great. I just bought a 2000 F350 last week and now I think the CPC might be going out... It surges when you drive, hasnt died yet but like you think it jumped gears in the tranny... Sound like from the other posts that this could be the problem... what do you think? Thanks, Zach

Just go to the dealer and pay the $25 plus tax. No sense ordering to save a buck at that price. I have 2 spares now. One for me and one for a PSD unlucky buddy.

O wow is that all they are at the dealer now? I was reading that they cost like $200. If thats all they are I am so just gonna get on locally tomorrow. Do you think that is the cause of my problem? Any way to trouble shoot it? Will there be a code in the computer? The check engine light was on but shuts of when you restart it... But does come on again after a while.
